The Indian Premiere league has witness some jaw-dropping catches and spectacular field performance by players ever since its inception in 2008. From diving to flying catches, IPL has seen it all.
Catches win matches and the ones like these stay etched in the memory of the onlookers for a really really long time!
Here is a list of the 5 most sensational catches from all the 10 seasons of IPL.
1. Pollard pulling off the best catch of IPL 2014:
Kieron Pollard managed to take the audience’s breath with his stunning catch to dismiss Kevin Cooper in Mumbai Indians’ game against Rajasthan Royals.
This one definitely stays one of our most favourites from all the IPL seasons.
2. Ricky Ponting & his Superman-like leap:
Even at 40, Ricky Ponting’s athletism knew no bounds when he took a spectacular catch to dismiss Unmukt chand in the Mumbai Indians’ match against the Delhi Daredevils during IPL 2013. He took the catch off the first ball of the Delhi Daredevils innings.
3. The miraculous catch by Faf du Plessis:
The catch against Mumbai Indians to dismiss Corey Anderson by the CSK All-rounder, Faf du Plessis can only be described as a miracle.
In the same match, he also took another jaw-dropping catch to dismiss Manvinder Bisla & set Chennai on course for a memorable victory.
4. When Tim Southee & Karun Nair redefined ‘Team Work’:
This one by Tim Southee & Karun Nair went down in the records for being one of the most amazing displays of team work on the field.
Rajasthan Royals bowler Tim Southee jumped at the deep mid-wicket boundary showing his fielding prowess to pouch the ball with his right hand. Meanwhile, he lost his balance and just before stepping on to the other side of the rope, he palmed the ball back to Karun Nair, who too dived across to make this one of the most amazing catches in the history of cricket.
It is rightly said, ‘It always takes two to tango.’
5. When Chris Lynn deservedly became the show-stopper:
It is usually an outstanding batsmanship or a greatly bowled inning that decided the fate of a match. But, that was definitely not the case for the KKR Vs RCB match during the IPL 2014. His incredible fielding skills cut off all chances for RCB to bag the title of winners of the match. Lynn, deservedly won the Man of the Match award, more for this catch than his valuable 45.
This clearly was an out of the world catch and one of the best the IPL has seen.
